Valentine’s Day

This year, with it being K’s first year of school for Valentines Day, I had to put my hand forward and make her “cards” for her. I had to make a total of 40 of them, 27 for her class, and 13 for a party we have to go to after class that day. I used my cricut to cut a file found on SVGCuts.com named Sweet Treat Bags.  I need to add some more embellishments to them, just need to find something in my many stashes as to what I want to use. I bought some 3x4 bags and a stack of K&C Valentine paper over at Michael’s.  I filled the bags with some sweethearts and some valentine M&M’s.

I also printed up some Subway art for the walls that I found over on Pinterest, I am addicted to this site!

Been a Busy Month

Been a crazy month, with K’s birthday, K’s first dance recital, being not only a paper cutting test cutter but also a sewing pattern tester, and Christmas, it’s been non-stop go go go here.  I am unable to show off the test cuts or the sewing pattern testing I have done yet, but I will post them once I get the ok from both designers.
Here are some of the photos of crafts from K’s party. We had an Under The Sea theme.

12082011-01430I decorated K’s door with streamers for her to run through in the morning when she woke up on her birthday.  She was all sorts of confused and called for us to get her out when she woke up.  I plan on running and getting some red and green streamers to do for Christmas morning too.

I really wish I could share my test cuts and pattern testing dress I made, the dress is a definite one that will have several made for her throughout the years.  I love it!!  But soon enough, she is still testing out size fittings for the other sizes, hopefully it will be fairly quickly.

Thanksgiving Crafts

Thanksgiving came and is now gone, and I finally have time to post some of my most recent crafts.  K’s last day of school for this session was the day before Thanksgiving, and she is now off till the 9th of Jan.  Before she was done, they had a Thanksgiving party.  I made some skittle sticks for the kids in her class with some turkey tags that I created, in retrospect, I should have made the beaks a bit bigger, but oh well, they still turned out super cute.

I also made her a new little “fall” skirt.  She loves the panels with the owls.

And next weekend is her b’day party, so I am trying to get things set up for that.  I decided to make her her own little party hat to wear.  I think I still want to make a “4” to attach to it, but for now this is it.

Halloween Treat Tubes

With Halloween coming up next week and my K being in her first year of pre-kindergarten, I had to go all out and make some goodies bags for her classmates.  I made 2 different sets of tags, but then decided I didn’t like the way that the pumpkins turned out, they should have been on a different color background.  So I ended up scrapping them, ok didn’t scrap them, just put them away for K to play with.  The goodies bags will all have a Halloween themed pencil, a pumpkin & bat eraser, a mini notebook with a ghost on the cover, a pack or 2 of candy Smarties, and the treat tubes that are filled with candy corn.  She has 25 kids in her class, plus teacher and helper, so I needed to make 27 of these things, and let me just say those dang candy corns were being difficult to go all the way to the bottom of the dang bag tubes.

These are the tags that I ended up scrapping.

The finalized tags and treat tubes.

Skirt and Anniversary Card

My 4 year anniversary was on the 31st of August and I made a card for my hubby.  I was happy with the concept, as it turned out as I wanted it to, however I am not happy with the papers I chose for some of it, the frame flourish should have been a different, darker paper cause it blended way too much with the background.

I also had a very happy, yet sad day on Tuesday Sept. 6th, as my little sidekick K started school for the very first time.  My little girl is now a pre-kindergartener!  I made her a new skirt over the weekend and she insisted on wearing it for her first day of school. So that she did.  I used this tutorial to generally make it, I did change it up and fully line the whole thing and I will make further changes on it for the next one, but that is the general idea that I used to make it.  I was quite surprised that I found the fat quarters at, of all places, Big Lots for a buck! I bought 6 of each of these patterns, I cut up 3 of each and still have plenty of them left over.  K wears a 2T in shorts, 3T in pants but only for the length, has a 19.5inch waist, so she really doesn’t need that big of a round.  I had sewn a bunch around and then I measured it up to her, I wrapped it around and doubled over 2 of the strips to give it a little more fullness and a bit of twirliness effect to it, since she so loves to twirl.

And of course I have to post a photo to document K’s first day of school. She looks like a deer caught in the headlights in the photo, but still my little cutie.

Flower Pot Pocket Card

I had to send a package off to my mom, and K wanted to send something along with it, so I decided to make her a card.  I used a Flower Pot Pocket Cut file from My Scrap Chick. A rolled rose from Crafty Blonde. A Cherry Blossom from SVGCuts. And a 9 petal flower I got from somewhere, the source of this one evades me. I used a pearl embellishment for the center of this flower. I inked to give the pot a dirty look and used my watercolor pencils to highlight. I made a rub on using my printer and transparency paper for the inside saying.  The back of the inside card, K wrote Love K and I put her age and date on the bottom back so Gramma can remember when she got it.

Pony

K insisted on a pony from my E for herself.  She also wanted to do the embossing herself.  So I pulled a couple of SVG pony images for her to choose from, she picked the Littlest Pet Shop pony like we did for a previous birthday card.  She picked her colors and I cut out for it.  K picked out the embossing folders that she wanted to use. I lined them up in the folders and let her use the Cuttlebug herself, since it is just a simple turn of the handle, I don’t mind letting her do it at this age (3.5yo).  I then glued it together.  K loves her pony and takes it with her everywhere.05172011 Kayla pony

I am working on making K a summer dress.  I have the fabric cut, the instructions all typed up, and it is ready to start.  Now if I could just get rid of this migraine I have had for the last couple of days I can get to sewing it up for her.  After that, I have a baby shower gift order and a new purse for myself.  So keep watch in the next few days to see the end results of each of them.

Baby Shower–Yup another!

My friend, Jill, is having a boy and I of course couldn’t resist making a blanket for him.  And then had to make a tag to attached to the blanket once it was ribbon wrapped.  It was a nautical themed baby shower so I followed the theme, however I wish I would have had some blue papers on hand instead of the greens, but it still turned out great using SCAL for all pieces.

Valentine Cards

K has dance on Monday’s and it just so happens that V day falls on a Monday this year, so we made some cards with suckers for the other little girls in her class and her teacher.  We had fun with these.  I used SCAL for the card shape and the slits for her to insert the suckers into.  I used my Create A Critter cartridge for the little bee and a rubber stamp for the “B mine” and some heart ribbon I got in the $1 bins over at Michaels earlier in the day.

Print and Cut Experimenting

I seen a couple people in a few of my yahoo crafting groups talking about the newer feature of Print & Cut from SCAL for our E’s, so I thought I would give it try.  After trying a few different ways that others have posted, I finally figured it out and it turned out pretty good.  K has claimed this “love bug” as her own now.

Littlest Pet Shop Pony Card

I have girlfriend whose daughter is having a b-day party this weekend, and she loves LPS.  So K and I made her a birthday card with one of the little ponies found here .  K picked out which animal to use, which colors to use and then which embossing folders to use.  I cut it out, put the pieces in the folders and let her emboss them.  I then glued them on deco trimmed the edge with my paper cutter.  I think we did a good job.

My first design on SCAL

I was looking for something to play around with and create in SCAL, so I stuck with something simple.  It turned out OK but I wasn’t completely satisfied and will for sure work on it more and add in a cut out into it to give it more character, but this will do for now.

Glass Etchings

I had a friend turning 40 this month, so decided to make her some monogrammed etched wine glasses with stencils made in SCAL and cut on my E.  They turned out super cute.

Baby Shower Card

I made a baby shower card for a friend having a little boy.  I made these on my new Cricut Expression (E in the future) and using SCAL.  I was tracing the images with a gel pen that was crap and died on me half way through the project.  I didn’t have any extras, and this was made the night before the shower, so I was unable to go buy a new one to finish it up.

K’s Thank You Cards

Again I used my Cricut and SCAL to make the Thank You cards to go along with K’s party.  I love that SCAL allowed me to cut out “Thank You” in the Rope font, I need to try to find a lasso to put in her hand yet, but I think they turned out pretty cute.

K’s B-day Party

K turned 3!!  We did a Toy Story – Jessie theme this year cause this girl is obsessed with Toy Story, all 3 of them.  I got creative and did all the décor myself, yet again missing a ton of photos…what is up with that?

Banner made using my Cricut & Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL)

I even made her cake…my very first time working with fondant, while it is far from perfect, I think it turned out pretty good and K loved it, so I can’t say it was a failure at all.

jessie cake 12_10_10More Cricut creations, 3D centerpieces, which I just so happen to forget at home, oops.  I also ended up making 20 of the aliens and filled them with candy for the kids to take home.  The eyes on Buzz did get finished, but for some reason they are not here.

I seemed to find one photo of set up for the drink/treat counter.  I made homemade punch from a recipe from a friend, her cake, and the most awesomeness of s’mores pops…DROOL!!

K’s 2nd Birthday Shirt

I used a friends embroidery machine to make a shirt for my daughters 2nd birthday shirt.  We had several issues and ended up ruining 3 shirts along the way and had to end up taking a onsie and cutting off the bottom and turn it into a shirt.  We cut the 2 out on her cricut.
